Chapter 9: Poisoner's Corridor:"Ouch-Ouch"

1. How is cadmium harmful?  How is it helpful?

Cadmium is linked to many medical connotations, especially respiratory diseases. In China, it caused the itai-itai  disease meaning ouch-ouch when it was dumped in nearby rivers and streams. The only way cadmium is helpful is by being a coating for batteries and computers in order to prevent corrosion.

2.When we think of elements of compounds being dangerous, we often thug of explosive elements. How is thallium's mode of attack different from this ?

Thallium's mode of attack is different from explosive elements because it mimics elements that we  often require. For example, thallium rides into the body via ion channels to vacuum potassium. Once inside the body, thallium unstitches key amino acids and roams the body, causing much harm. Thallium is often considered the "Poisoner's Poison."

3. Who is the danger from thallium similar to the dangers of radioactivity?

Many people have use thallium for killing spies, dictators etc. They even used some in the Cold war. Much like the dangers of radioactivity, thallium can be exposed to almost anyone, since it is relatively stable here on earth.

4. What makes bismuth such a iniquity element?

I would say what makes bismuth such an iniquity element is its colour and
elegance on its physical standpoint. However, Bismuth is slightly radioactive, making it kind of wicked.

5. Where can you find thorium ? Americium?

You can find thorium in industrial lamps in mines since they glow extra bright. You can find americium in smoke detectors since they absorb particles causing it to set off an alarm.
