Chapter 7 Reflection
Chapter 7 was really interesting to me because it focused on the scientific development during difficult times such as the wold war. I like how Kean showed the incredible things that Glenn Seaborg and his assistants made such as the discovery of seaborgium and Californium. I enjoyed how Kean mentioned other parts of the world besides the United States and their scientific developments. His use of historical context was also one of the things I most admired. I did not know that Joseph Stalin oppressed the ideas of development and even caused a change in the scientific progress of Russia. I also didn't know that Berkeley is known for the most synthesized elements. Sam Kean provided so much information that I did not know about. This Chapter really emphasized how history can play an important role in the development of science.
